How to Update Sony Drivers by Yourself?
There are a number of typical alerts and other messages which you may get in the driver updating procedure, a number of which I've paraphrased and listed right here along with tips on what you can do:
QUESTION: I reformatted my Sony VAIO hard drive. I re-installed almost all Windows 7 updates, then installed all VAIO software updates, including VAIO Care updates, all through VAIO Update Manager. The latest update offered to me on that date was VAIO Care Update version 8.4.4.09181, which was automatically downloaded and installed successfully. Under my Control Panel's "add/remove programs", it also shows that this is the latest update installed. MY PROBLEM is that VAIO Update keeps nagging me to install an earlier version of VAIO Care (8.4.3.07161). Naturally, it will not install since it is an earlier version number compared to the one I already have installed. I verified through VAIO Update Manager (under installation history tab) that the installation was successful. When I clicked on the version I have installed (8.4.4.09181), I am directed to a Sony webpage that says that it's an "invalid entry" (http: //esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl? upd_filename=EP0000323829.exe). When navigating to the appropriate Sony webpage for driver updates for my model number, that update version number is also missing. Did Sony withdraw an update? If so, what am I supposed to do about it? When I Google the version number I've got currently installed, I can find a few entries listed; when I click on any of them, they direct me to pages that no longer exist. Could anyone at Sony give me input on this? Thanks.
ANSWER: I checked the web site and the latest version that only reveals is the Up-date VAIO Care Update 8.4.3.07161. For this reason the 8.4.3.07161 model keeps on turning up. I can't really notify why Vaio Care 8.4.4.09181 automatically updates on your laptop, as you said on the previous post. What you can do is now to uninstall/reinstall VAIO Care then after reinstalling, obtain all the upgrades on the website.
I hope this helps.
Way to Update Drivers with Device Manager
1. Find Control Panel.

Depending on your version of Windows, Control Panel is usually available from the Start Menu or the Apps screen.
What you do next depends on what Windows operating system you're using:
- In Windows 10 and Windows 8, tap or click on the Hardware and Sound link.
- In Windows 7, click System and Security.
- In Windows Vista, choose System and Maintenance.
- In Windows XP, click Performance and Maintenance.
Note: If you don't see these options, your Control Panel view may be set to Large icons, Small icons, or Classic View, depending on your version of Windows. If so, find and choose Device Manager from the big collection of icons you see and then skip to Step 3 below.
2. Open Device Manager
- In Windows 10 and Windows 8, check under the Devices and Printers heading.
- In Windows 7, look under System.
- In Windows Vista, you'll find Device Manager towards the bottom of the window.
- Windows XP Only: You have a few extra steps since Device Manager isn't as easily available in your version of Windows.
From the open Control Panel window, click System, choose the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.

3. In Device Manager, you can check for updates, update your drivers or troubleshoot driver problems
